The Laboratory of Thermostructural  Composites (LCTS) is a joint research unit whose guardianships are CNRS, University of Bordeaux 1 (UB1), Snecma Propulsion Solide (SPS) of the SAFRAN group and the CEA. It was created in January 1988 by Professor R. Naslain which has directed it until 2001. Professor A. The laboratory’s researches are focused on ceramic composites for applications in extreme conditions: under high temperature, under mechanical and thermal energy, in oxidizing environment and even under irradiation. In this area, LCTS missions are :
